The student life at SKEMA includes a long list of associations (student societies and clubs), covering a broad range of interests and activities. There is something for everyone if you are so inclined.
Associations are a great way to meet new people who share similar interests as you, and become better connected with your fellow students.

As an international student, I thought joining an association would be an excellent way to meet and become friends with the French student body and, in doing so, improve my language skills.
I chose to sign up for the Xtrem Intentions association, and it has been a very positive experience. In order to introduce myself to the group, I was asked to meet with some of the current members and showcase myself. Following this, I was asked to attend a party hosted by the association, and along with my fellow inductees, provide the venue with energy and excitement. These demands were not so much a selection process, but more of a way to meet and party with the group so that I could become comfortable with this family. Once affirmed, I was invited to a “weekend of integration”.
The weekend of integration consisted of an afternoon of canyoning in the Alps, followed by a soiree at a chalet high in the mountains. It was a great experience to socialize with the French, and experience another side of the culture that I would not have been exposed to through my daily academic pursuits.
My experience has been great, and I would not hesitate to recommend that all international students join a club. There should be no reason to feel intimidated and overwhelmed. The French are very welcoming and open, provided you also make an effort.
The association culture was showcased at the annual Show hosted by the Student Union. At this event, each of the associations was allowed to present some type of show, be it a dance, video, song, or drama, all done in a parodying fashion.
I had a fantastic time at the show, and was thoroughly impressed with the creativity of some of the videos, and the energy that was unleashed. I would speculate that the student producers behind these very entertaining videos have the potential for a successful career in marketing. I found this event especially interesting as I was able to witness the more playful and innovative side of people who I had previously only observed in the classroom setting.
