Joy Arana, Bachelor in Marketing & Business Development student 2011-12
Here is a short interview with Joy.
How long have you been at SKEMA Bachelors?
"I started at SKEMA Bachelors in September 2009 after getting my Baccalaureate and after doing a year at the University of Nice. I’m now at the end of my fourth semester here."
Why did you choose SKEMA?
"SKEMA is about success and internationalisation. I needed to improve my English, to open up to a promising future and to take my chances abroad. SKEMA offers all of that in one package; that’s why I chose this school."
What is your specialisation?
"I’m doing the Bachelor in Communication and Public Relations, and I’ll be going to study in London as from September."
What’s it like, studying at SKEMA Bachelors?
"Rewarding! We get to know a lot of cultures and the classes in English are a real bonus. The professors are available to students; this environment makes it easy to get ahead."
What’s life like here (outside of class)?
"As far as student life is concerned, we never get bored! There’s a lot going on: events, get-togethers, and students who are looking to make the most of their time between classes."
What’s been the highlight of the last 12 months?
"I’m thinking of the day when I created my own student society: SKEMA News (the Bachelors newspaper.)
Aadam Singh, Bachelor in Marketing & Business Development student 2011-12
“Being an international student enrolled in one of SKEMA Bachelors’ programmes has to be one of the highlights of my professional and personal life.
The obvious trials and tribulations of adapting to a foreign country kept aside, my bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communication (now called Bachelor in Marketing & Business Development) has been a learning experience in the true sense of the word. My reference being a typical educational institution, the experience of having a personalised educational path, with round-the-clock support from tutors and programme directors was an eye opener and this follow up of students in addition to the courses given is one of SKEMA’s strengths.
All in all then, I would say that what SKEMA Bachelors provides is a great first step onto the educational and professional ladders blended with significant knowledge gain, as well as international experience and professionalisation like no other.
What with all the partner universities available to us, and the requirements of having completed at least two professional experiences before graduation, SKEMA Bachelors provides a splendid learning environment, available to all those who know how to seize the opportunity.”
Johanna Martin, Bachelor in Marketing & Business Development fourth-year student 2010-11

"My main motivation for coming to SKEMA Bachelors was the international dimension, and the desire to better know the world of work. SKEMA Bachelors has fully lived up to these key points.
At this school, professional experiences are valued and the international dimension is omnipresent. On campus, we interact daily with students and professors from around the world. The 100%-in-English curriculum has reinforced the internationalisation I was looking for.
Study abroad, school community life, and the relationships and ties that are woven with students and teachers are all factors that have enabled me to develop personally and to build my project.
The teachers are, for the most part, professionally active in their area of expertise and teach in parallel to their work, adding to the quality of education. The content of classes is in harmony with the professional reality. There is no gap between theory and practical reality.
At SKEMA Bachelors, as we study and thanks to the internships, our career choices gradually become clearer. By the end of the degree, we have a concrete vision of what we want to do and are capable of doing.
SKEMA Bachelors trains us for the "real" life. We must master the theory but also the more practical aspects are exercised when it comes to carrying out projects, and being part of a team."
Lorene Giorgis, Bachelor in Marketing & Business Development second-year student 2011-12
"I am a second-year student at SKEMA Bachelors majoring in Communication Studies (of the Bachelor in Marketing & Business Development). I started at Skema Bachelors immediately after graduating from high-school.
Many things attracted me to SKEMA. Firstly, the personalization of the programme of study and timetable is the best way to make this degree relevant to me and my career plans.
Thanks to these options, I selected specific courses that interest me the most, and I have created a timetable that suits me best. I think that this is essential for academic success and personal fulfillment.
Having a tutor is also important for me. Tutors help us to make the right choices concerning courses and how to manage our next two years abroad. They also find solutions to our problems. My tutor has always done her very best to enhance my studies and optimise my time here.
Finally, the SHN programme (for highly-performing sportspeople) to which I belong has made it possible to continue my passion –rhythmic gymnastics– at a high level.
I am totally satisfied with my experience at SKEMA Bachelors not only because the faculty are very qualified but also because my major in Communication Studies meets and exceeds my expectations. I have also made wonderful friends and I love the fact that students in each class come from all around the world.
I really recommend this experience to everyone.
Studying at SKEMA Bachelors over the last two years is, for the moment, the best opportunity I’ve ever had."
