Bachelors in Environmental Sciences

DEVELOPMENT... YET SUSTAINABLE

grasselli.jpgLife sciences are currently undergoing rapid development at a time when organisations, governments and companies are converting to sustainable development models. Their role for the future has never been so important.

To tackle this new state of affairs, both scientific and international, SKEMA Bachelors provides training which enables students to take advanced studies in the fields of the environment, genetics, oceanography, ecology, biotechnologies. Doing this, students combine a profession with a passion.

The Bachelor in Marine and Environmental Sciences provides training in biology, oceanography, and environmental sciences as well as a degree in environmental management by taking advantage of our exceptionally rich marine environment and surrounding countryside. Students are involved with a variety of applied projects (inventories, conservation), and foundation courses in biology and chemistry complement courses in oceanography, and the ecological environment.

Specialisation starts in the first year of study. Specialist courses in chemistry of the environment, global changes and impact on the environment reinforce students' technical skills, adding to their international opportunities in the years which follow.

After two years at the Sophia Antipolis campus, students complete their bachelor of science degree in a partner university which will offer them a unique hands-on experience of the local natural environment: the Great Barrier Reef of Australia, the vast forests of North America, as well as the expertise of the internationally renowned teaching and research faculty.

The degree course combines a solid theoretical foundation with a practical approach which provides students with a rapid and smooth transition into the professional world.

PAST STUDENTS' SUCCESS STORIES
Sabine obtained her Bachelor in Biochemistry in 1995 and was particularly impressed by how well equipped the labs of American universities were, even at that time. After a first experience with L'Oréal, she decided to continue her studies with a DESS in cosmetology. Her solid scientific background, combined with her international profile allowed her to be taken on by the Chanel research centre, where she works alongside pharmacists and doctors.

With a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from the College of Charleston, and a DESS in Sustainable Development and Environmental Management, Arnaud is currently working as an environmental engineer in project management. He is particularly concerned with the issue of waste management, assisting companies and communities to respect certain environmental norms of quality.

Jean-Philippe studied Oceanography at Florida Institute of Technology, followed by an MSc in Coastal Zone Management. He gained professional experience in a variety of jobs before rising to the position of head of Environmental and Urban Planning with a New-York-based company.

Charlotte was admitted into the second year of SKEMA Bachelors EAI and completed her bachelor's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Tulane in New Orleans. She works today in the health industry for an international company based in France.
