Brazil campus: students work with children's welfare NGO

Published on 17 January 2017

Operaçaõ Brasil is an NGO involved in improving the lot of underprivileged children in the city of Belo Horizonte. The association puts up buildings or playgrounds for schools and nurseries.

Since the beginning of this year, students at SKEMA’s Belo Horizonte campus have been supporting this organisation and its actions.

Every Saturday, a number of SKEMA students volunteer to help with the association’s projects. They contributed to the successful international volunteer day on 3 December and have also helped to improve communication, sponsorship and the association’s organisation.

A sale of SKEMA Brazil 2016 T-shirts raised 2800 réais (Brazilian currency) and a collection during the autumn gala gathered an extra 550.

"Besides this welcome financial aid for the 120 children from two to six years old at the Meninos Deus nursery, to help us to continue building the playground area, we would like to say how important this initiative is for a Franco-Brazilian association like ours. A durable partnership with SKEMA means that we can rely on the dynamism of the students and their involvement to develop our communication and sponsor seeking in a matter of months", declared the association president, Pascal Caquineau.

In Brazil like in France, China or the US, SKEMA students get involved in local life and show their values of solidarity, respect and generosity.
