Fintech: SKEMA research selected by AXA Research Fund

Published on 28 February 2018

The AXA Research Fund announced the results of its second campaign for post-doc grants 2017. Among the 25 researchers selected this year from a large number of applicants, SKEMA research professor Marco Gazel (pictured) was chosen for his research project: “Getting ready for the fintech revolution in Europe”.

The AXA Research Fund is a philanthropic initiative from AXA to increase the number of scientific discoveries that support societal progress. It also encourages researchers to share their results as widely as possible and contribute to the public debate. So far, the AXA Research Fund has supported 531 research projects from top class researchers of 55 nationalities in 34 different countries.

The researchers were selected by the Scientific Council of the AXA Research Fund, made up of 14 personalities, international experts in their domains. The president of the council is Professor Thomas Kirkwood (emeritus professor at Newcastle University and professor of Bio-gerontology at Copenhagen University).

Marco Gazel’s research project convinced the judges by proposing to define a complete methodology to collect data in the still unstable sector of fintech, by collecting and combining data from different sources and thereby providing the first complete fintech database in Europe.
