MSc DMAI students’ collaboration with a local startup in Sophia Antipolis

Published on 23 April 2024

During the academic year 2023-2024, MSc Digital Marketing and Artificial Intelligence students at SKEMA Business School collaborated with X-Pert, a Sophia Antipolis-based startup specialising in innovative underwater technologies.

This effort was part of the "AI Company Project," designed to immerse students in real-world business environments as professional consultants.

X-Pert, known for its cutting-edge solutions for seabed exploration and protection, presented two significant challenges to the students: "Energy Efficiency for Existing Equipments" (E4) and "Submarine Environment Forecast" (SEF). Over two semesters, students worked in four teams, applying their business knowledge, alongside AI and digital skills to come up with market strategies for these technologies.

The collaboration culminated in a series of final presentations, where students showcased their strategic recommendations aimed at providing a market entry strategy for X-Pert’s technologies. The feedback from the startup’s representatives was extremely positive, leading X-Pert’s CEO to express intentions to explore the feasibility of the proposed solutions further.

This initiative highlights SKEMA's commitment to integrating practical industry experience into its curriculum, preparing students to meet modern technological and business challenges head-on. As the academic year closed, both X-Pert and the students reflected on the valuable insights gained, underscoring the success of this academia-industry collaboration.
