Published on 26 April 2018

10 April, the SKEMA MSc Strategic Event Management and Tourism Management, directed by Mady Keup, organised the second edition of the Taste it! New experiences in Tourism event on the Sophia Antipolis campus.

David Ward-Perkins, tutored students about their career perspectives: experts and specialists of the Côte d’Azur tourist industry shared their experiences of the sector with professionals, professors and students.

The Côte d’Azur, with almost 10.3 million tourists per year and a turnover of 4.5 billion euros, is the most important French tourist destination after Paris. 52% of visitors are foreign. In the Alpes-Maritimes, the tourism sector represents 18% of employment, or almost 75 000 jobs directly linked to tourism.

After an introduction from Eric Doré, general director of the CRT Côte d'Azur France and Laetitia Cassuto - Provence Côte d'Azur Events, the students presented their ongoing projects with companies located on the Côte d'Azur. Then there were workshops and round tables about concrete projects in partnership with tourism professionals. A professional participant underlined: “Students get highly involved in these projects and thanks to their cultural differences, they do a lot of excellent work. Chinese, Italians, French and Americans work together to come up with high quality ideas”.

The evening continued with a networking session.
