New SKEMA partnership with UTS in Australia

Published on 14 October 2018

1 October, SKEMA Business School and the Australian university UTS signed an agreement that will enable UTS to join the existing consortium that includes the Business Science Institute and the IAE Lyon, as part of the Digital DBA programme.

Patrice Houdayer, director of Programmes, International Development and Student Life at SKEMA Business School welcomed Chris Earley, dean of the Business School of the Australian university UTS. The two institutions signed an agreement on SKEMA’s Paris campus that will enable UTS to join the existing consortium that includes the Business Science Institute and the IAE Lyon, as part of the Digital DBA programme.

According to this new agreement, UTS will deliver a certificate to graduates of the distance DBA. Then during 2019, the Australian business school will deliver its own DBA to learners in the Digital DBA. This means that the diploma will be recognised nationally – a plus for international recognition.

UTS is one of the leading Australian universities. It is ranked 196th worldwide and 9th out of the 35 Australian establishments that were in the Times Higher Education (THE) world ranking. QS identifies UTS as one of the best institutions in the world for financial management.

The DDBA (Digital Doctorate in Business Administration) is a unique programme in higher and executive education. It was designed for practising professionals and is accessible to holders of an MBA or equivalent. Applicants must have five years’ professional experience and show a keen interest for in-depth thinking and seeking a perspective potentially resulting in knowledge creation through research publication. With their newly acquired qualification, these doctoral graduates and practitioners can enhance their career and transmit their knowledge through books, articles conferences and teaching while continuing to practise professionally.

The DDBA programme is based on a “digital knowledge toolbox” that enables managers to work from home or their office and during their free time, using a variety of supports unique to the course: videos, books, articles, forums, quizzes, etc.

Besides the interactive supervision from around one hundred professors, week-long international seminars are held in Paris or Luxembourg for the first two years. During the third year, doctoral candidates defend their thesis in front of an international panel of university professors. Once they have done this, they obtain a Doctorate in Business Administration from SKEMA Business School, the Business Science Institute and the IAE Lyon, Université Jean Moulin, in France. These schools are now joined by UTS Business School.
