One of world’s greatest finance researchers joins SKEMA

The school is recruiting a global finance heavyweight: Florencio Lopez de Silanes.

Florencio Lopez de Silanes is an internationally renowned researcher and his work on economics and finance put him amongst the world’s best professors in these disciplines.

From 1 February 2017, he will join SKEMA Business School as research professor and associate dean of international business; he will also be part of the school’s new finance research laboratory: Finance and Accounting Insights on Risk and Regulation (FAIRR).

A 51-year-old from Mexico, Florencio Lopez de Silanes graduated in 1993 from Harvard University where he taught finance from 1994 to 2001; he taught at Yale from 2001 to 2005. 

After coming to Europe, he first taught at the University of Amsterdam Business School in 2006; in 2007 he came to France where until now, he has been head of the Corporate Governance department at Edhec.

“I am delighted to welcome Florencio and offer him the opportunity to continue his research here in SKEMA where we are is seeking to expand applied research,” explained Alice Guilhon, dean of SKEMA Business School.

“I like Europe and I like France. I am interested in joining SKEMA for its dynamism and its ambition to intensify the development of research.
