Raleigh: MSc Financial Markets students pitch to big shots

Published on 09 May 2018

MSc Financial Markets & Investments students on SKEMA's Raleigh campus, as part of the Global Portfolio Management class, pitched their ideas to Jeff de Valdivia, CFA & founder of Fleurus Investment Advisory, and Ken Monaghan, managing director, Global Yield at Amundi.

May 2,  the MSc Financial Markets & Investments students had their Global Portfolio Management pitch presentations overseen by the head of the MSc on the US campus, Mohamed Desoky, Ph.D. Students presented also to guest judges Jeff de Valdivia, CFA & founder of Fleurus Investment Advisory and Ken Monaghan, managing director, Global Yield at Amundi.

Mohammed Desoky said afterwards: "Congratulations to students for their wonderful efforts during this year’s Global Portfolio Management pitch presentations! Each student group had the opportunity to apply what they've been learning to a hypothetical active/passive fund and deliver their strategy to prospective investors in an exercise of entrepreneurial finance.

I want to commend Delta X Arbitrage active fund managers Loic Villessaint and Dimitar Naydenov for their highly detailed strategy and passionate delivery in winning top honours across a highly competitive field.  I also want to extend my gratitude to Jeff de Valdivia and Ken Monaghan for joining us as guest judges, offering realistic feedback as well as general career advice to students as they transition into the finance industry.  And thank you Bloomberg LP for powering this exercise, specifically the PORT/PRTU team and functionality for providing an incredible platform to make this project a continued success."
