On 27 March, Rod Frankel, president of Frankel Staffing Partners (a well- known company providing recruiting services in Raleigh and North Carolina) came to meet students in the MSc International Business and the MSc Financial Markets & Investments. The talk was called "Job Seeking “a subject that went from the acquisition and highlighting of personal skills, to the capacity of considering every contact at all levels as a potential employer or a professional opportunity.
Rod Frankel was general director of several Club Med villages in the world and has directed multicultural teams made up of dozens of different nationalities. In North America, he was director of human resources and recruited everywhere in Canada, Mexico and in the US to provide hundreds of positions for Club Med. This international experience taught him numerous lessons about managing and discussing with people from many different countries and cultural horizons. Since his arrival in Raleigh to launch Frankel Staffing Partners, he has been particularly active in the local business community..
On 3 April, Stephanie Schantz (pictured, founder and director, Legal Lingua, LLC; senior lecturer in Business Law and Communication at SKEMA Business School) and the students in the MSc International Business took a close look at the specific characteristics of Doing Business in America. First, the students were asked what they knew about business etiquette in the US and the norms in professional milieus. The results were a surprise for many. Stephanie Schantz told students her own family experience with companies in the US and this led to a frank and interesting discussion with students exchanging their varied experience of work in the US.
