Wall St. visit for MSc Financial Markets students, USA

Published on 15 November 2017

SKEMA’s Raleigh (US) campus held its third Finance Trek outing to Wall St., NYC

28, 29 September 2017: 21 students in the MSc Financial Markets & Investments (FMI) met finance professionals in companies such as BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole, NASDAQ, Wells Fargo and Weiser Mazars.

This trip is the result of close collaboration between the SKEMA's careers service, the Raleigh faculty, the Finance department and SKEMA alumni. It offers students a chance to meet companies, take part in closing ceremonies at the NASDAQ and meet up with former SKEMA students in an alumni networking event in midtown Manhattan, where they were given a lot of interesting information about living and working in New York.

Grégoire Belhoste an MSc FMI student, tells us: "This trip allowed us to get a picture of the companies and positions that we would like to work in thanks to all the great advice from the various people we met. The alumni event gave us the chance to discuss with people who had already experienced this and what they told us was really useful."

Dr Mohamed A. Desoky, head of the MSc Financial Markets & Investments in Raleigh and coordinator of this trip, helped students prepare for the visits from both the professional and academic points of view. A veteran of Wall Street, he reckons that this trip was a priceless opportunity for students, "Reading a book or an article or even watching a film is nothing like meeting people in their real context, professionals in the world's financial capital that constitutes a true laboratory for tomorrow’s finance."
