EVP and president, Microsoft Global Sales, Marketing & Operations
As EVP and president of Microsoft Global Sales, Marketing & Operations, Jean-Philippe Courtois leads global sales and marketing for 122 subsidiaries worldwide. Additionally, he drives strategic planning, runs global operations, and shapes growth initiatives both in developed and emerging markets. He has spent time with customers, partners and Microsoft employees in countries across the globe providing a rich perspective on what it takes to drive customer and partner success.

Having spent more than 30 years with the company Courtois has witnessed its evolution first hand, giving him a unique view on how the company’s innovative technologies and strategic partnerships are transforming education, fostering local innovation, and supporting social and economic development internationally.
Courtois is a strong advocate for encouraging greater inclusion and empowerment of people who do not have access to technology and the opportunities it offers and enables. In particular, he is passionate about creating more opportunities for youth in education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
Previously, Courtois served as president of Microsoft International where he led sales, marketing, and services across all Microsoft subsidiaries outside of the United States and Canada. Before that he held the same role for the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) as CEO and president of Microsoft EMEA.
His many notable accomplishments include significant improvements in customer satisfaction, digital national agendas, enhanced regional integration and record sales growth.
Prior to his role in EMEA, Courtois was corporate vice president of Worldwide Customer Marketing, based out of Microsoft's worldwide headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
Courtois joined Microsoft in 1984 as a channel sales representative and, after holding several leadership positions, was promoted to general manager for Microsoft France in 1994.
Outside of Microsoft, Courtois is a board member of Positive Planet, a worldwide leading NGO, with a mission is to help men and women across the world create the conditions for a better life for future generations. He has served as co-chairman of the World Economic Forum's Global Digital Divide Initiative Task Force and on the European Commission Information and Communication Technology task force. Since December 2016, he is the chairman of SKEMA Business School. He also co-founded the foundation “Live for Good”, which aims to help underprivileged young social entrepreneurs realise their potential.
In 2009, he also served as an EU Ambassador for the Year of Creativity and Innovation, and in 2011 he was named one of "Tech's Top 25" by The Wall Street Journal Europe.
A French national, Courtois obtained his Diplôme des Etudes Commerciales Supérieures (DECS) from SKEMA Business School.
