The 30 Raleigh-based students in the MSc Financial Markets and Investments programme spent the first week of October in New York City for the annual Finance Trek organised by SKEMA US.
Through a variety of events, visits and networking opportunities, students were able to experience the NYC finance world first-hand. They took Wall Street Prep courses and visited multiple prominent financial places, including:
- Wall Street
- The New York Stock Exchange
- NASDAQ
- Bloomberg
- The Wells Fargo Bank
They also had the opportunity to meet and connect with many finance experts, including SKEMA alumni who attended an alumni panel, alumni dinner reception, and Women in Finance Coffee Chat. Several students made the best of these new connections while on site – including one who had the chance to meet one-on-one with a manager at BNP Paribas.
The trek is a highly valuable opportunity for FMI students to learn about a wide range of roles in finance and investment banking and to grow their professional network, as many of them plan to stay and work in the US upon completion of the programme in the spring.
