Objectives

  1. Acquire an overall vision of financial statements and use the relevant tools for understanding your company’s, clients' or competitors' positions
  2. Use financial, commercial, and business information effectively to better understand capital expenditure when selecting or promoting capex or opex solutions
  3. Understand how your performance impacts finance, based on key financial performance measures
  4. Raise your level of financial awareness, and understand the financial aspects of your role when communicating with stakeholders

Introduction: why and how to think and speak finance?

Week 2 to 5 - Knowledge acquisition 

Week 2 - Financial statement analysis
Week 3 - Costing for decision making and control
Week 4 - Effectively managing capex and opex for investment projects
Week 5 - The power of financial ratios and financial key performance indicators

Week 6 and 7 - Implementation through case study

Week 6 - Case study in groups
Week 7 - Webinar (case study debrief)

WEEK 8 - Roadmap for action 

Final assignment

Quizzes and evaluations, group case study, exercises done individually.
