Programme director

Emmanuelle Rigaud is the director of the programme on SKEMA's side. She is a professor of marketing and has taught at various universities and management schools: ESCP Europe, GEM, Paris Panthéon Sorbonne University and University of Marne-la-Vallée. She was recently in charge of luxury management programmes at Neoma Business School.

Before that, she worked for over 15 years in international marketing with major groups including Yves Saint Laurent and LVMH. Her research particularly focuses on the strategies of organisations and brands, and on luxury brand management. 

An author of numerous publications, she recently wrote book titled “Luxury management: opportunities and challenges”, written jointly with her Italian counterpart Fabrizio Maria Pini who teaches at the Politechnico di Milano, published by Vuibert. Emmanuelle was also the co-editor of New Luxury Management: Creating and Managing Sustainable Value Across the Organization, published by Palgrave Macmillan.

Dr Kristie McGowan is director of the Global Luxury and Management programme at NC State University, in partnership with SKEMA.  Dr McGowan holds a PhD in Textile Technology Management from the esteemed College of Textiles at NC State University, recognised as the number one textile programme in the world.  

She specialises in marketing with a focus on innovating the luxury customer experience and identifying how luxury companies can serve their customers virtually in a manner that is equivalent to the experiences they offer in store.  In addition to teaching in the Global Luxury and Management programme, Dr McGowan also teaches in the Executive MBA.

Dr McGowan’s professional career has been defined by the intersection of textiles and apparel with business.  She has worked in merchandising, strategy and management positions at Tommy Hilfiger, VF Jeanswear and Cotton Incorporated.  Dr McGowan has a track record of accomplishments in strategic business development and product and marketing innovations with a focus on bringing new products and programmes to market.
