Students win Vlerick Mergers & Acquisitions challenge

Published on 10 December 2018

Four students, Thomas Scala and El Mehdi Bey Temsamani (MSc Corporate Financial Management) and Ruben Borghs and Amaury de Cassan Floyrac (MSc Financial Markets and Investments) won the prestigious 2018 Merger & Acquisitions Challenge from Vlerick Business School in Brussels.

Four SKEMA students from the Paris campus, Thomas Scala and El Mehdi Bey Temsamani (MSc Corporate Financial Management) and Ruben Borghs and Amaury de Cassan Floyrac (MSc Financial Markets & Investments) won the prestigious 2018  Merger & Acquisitions Challenge from Vlerick Business School in Brussels.

This challenge, which took place on 17 November, saw dozens of students from prestigious European business schools, including twenty or so students from SKEMA, come together for a merger simulation day with professionals from major investment banks and consulting firms (Morgan Stanley, ING, Lazard, Allen&Overy, Bain, Roland Berger, Deloitte, KBC, Gimv and more).

This year, the simulation game took its inspiration from the recent takeover of Fox by Disney.

As soon as each participant arrived, they were randomly assigned a team of students from the four corners of Europe and the world. The case study was presented to each team and the teams were allowed to work independently, with help and support from their teachers and the professionals. At the end of the preparatory stage, each team appointed a representative to present their work to a jury of professionals.

Sabrina Chikh (director of the MSc Corporate Financial Mamagement) and Amaury Goguel (director of the MSc Financial Markets and Investments) extend their gratitude to the prizewinners and to all the SKEMA participants in this challenge.
