SKEMA Ventures startup wins entrepreneurship prize

Published on 05 October 2020

The Pépite Paca-Est 2020 awards were presented on Thursday, 24 September, to the five winning projects, which included three supported by SKEMA Ventures. Among them, French Acoustics was the winner of the 2020 BPI Innovation Award, while InPact and Gumami received the PACA region award.

The BPI Innovation Award was presented to Timothée Caron (SKEMA student, PGE M1), a member of the French Acoustics team.

The two projects by SKEMA graduates who received the PACA region award are:
- InPact: A project involving powdered insect food supplements, led by Candice Lemonnier (SKEMA 2018);
- Gumami: Overseen by Orianne Mary (SKEMA 2020), Gumami is a click and collect/delivery platform based on an ecosystem of local caterers.

“French Acoustics is the kind of project we love as it is a joint venture between Polytech and SKEMA. It produces very high-quality speakers, eco-designed and manufactured in France with recycled material,” said SKEMA Ventures director Philippe Chéreau.

Already acclaimed in the PACA region, the three projects that won have been assisted by various members of SKEMA Ventures at different SKEMA campuses at one time or another. This is the great strength of the Venture Family network. Congratulations to these SKEMA-supported start-ups! We should be proud of our entrepreneurs and the work they have accomplished," he added.

The Pépite Prize for Student Entrepreneurship  is a result of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation’s desire to encourage entrepreneurship among young people in higher education. Its objective is to highlight innovative company creation projects by students who have the student-entrepreneur status. The Pépite 2020 Prize rewarded the regional winners at a local event, as well as the national winners, each representing the “best project” produced by the Pépite clusters. Each of these projects will be designated Champion of the Pépite it comes under, and will defend its region in the national final staged in Paris.

Support for the projects will include financial aid and assistance from the Pépites present throughout the territory.
