Hutchinson’s 24-hour hackathon

Published on 16 October 2017

Jihad Jorio, a student at SKEMA (MSc International Strategy & Influence), participated in an innovation challenge organised by Hutchinson. Rewarded by the jury, she tells us about her experience.

"I heard about Hutchinson’s 24-hour hackathon through the career service at SKEMA Business School and different representatives of my programme (MSc International Strategy & Influence).

Around 17 projects were presented. Students had to pick the one that interested them the most and discuss it with the project managers. That way, I became a member of a group of ten students with different backgrounds: business and engineering schools.

Our team worked on the subject  "Walking on water?", presented by Hutchinson. The project was very challenging and required lots of creativity, innovation and thinking outside of the box.

We did come up with an innovative solution based on biomimetic. We were rewarded with the  "jury’s favourite" prize and the promise of a visit to one of Naval Group’s bases.

This experience was very memorable. I would highly encourage people to take part in such events. It was demanding but all the more gratifying to see that hours of work and of resistance to sleep paid off, after all it was only a 24-hour challenge! I credit the success of this challenge to the high spirit and the great dynamic within the team "Les Ninjas Flottants". I like to thank  our project manager Denis Godeau and the support of Jean-Patrick Péché, a design thinking consultant.

Thank you, Sophie Ripoche, member of the career service and SKEMA, for sharing this event with us and encouraging us to take part in it."
