MSc Global Luxury: four days of events - a sampler

This article is a resume of events attended by MSc Global Luxury Management students over the course of a few days during the spring term.

January 31st - Careers day 
During the Careers day, the recruitment departments from L’Oréal, Lancel (Richemont Group), Christian Dior Couture came specifically to meet MSc Global Luxury Management students and to present their companies, share career testimonials and give advice on: the recruitment processes, role and mission of a product manager, or a store director. 

Students also had the opportunity to meet with the managers from L’Oréal, Lancel, Christian Dior Couture individually at the end of each presentation. 


January 31st - Contemporary art collection of Societé Generale
MSc Global Luxury Management students visited the Contemporary Art Collection of Société Générale at la Defense. Contemporary art is one the top priorities for the Société Générale group’s cultural patronage. This year "Architecture" was the theme and the collections of pictures, statues and installations was about world city architecture, everyday architecture and imaginary architecture. 

Two excellent speakers guided the students through the discovery of artists that reflects upon the boundaries of art and architecture and explore the relationship between human and space.  


Feb 1st - Baccarat Museum visit
MSc Global Luxury Management students visited the Baccarat Museum, located at the heart of Château, very close to the production site. 

Students admired historical and new creations by Baccarat and enjoyed, thanks to two inspiring guides, the excellence of Baccarat savoir faire and the evolution of the techniques and styles in the luxury decorative arts domain.


Feb 1st - Afterwork with MSc Global Luxury Management alumni
After the first afterwork in New York last October,  students and alumni met in Paris in a convivial and private bar around the area of the Arc de Triomphe.  MSc Global Luxury Management students chatted, and got to know alumni that are working in companies such as Chanel, Baccarat and Roger Vivier. They also talked with consultants and entrepreneurs in the luxury field. The event was also attended by the SKEMA Alumni association and an ambassador of SKEMA Alumni Luxury Club, Christophe Roux. 


Feb 2nd - Intercontinental Grand  Hotel Paris visit
The doors of this magnificent hotel were open for MSc Global Luxury Management students and they enjoyed a guided visit organised by SKEMA's Careers Centre. 

Intercontinental Paris Grand Hotel is one of the luxury brands that are part of the IHG group. 

MSc GLM students were invited to experience the suites and the grandeur of the ballroom, often rented for fashion shows, such as Dior's. At the end of the visit, the hotel's sales team showed students the group's strategy, their positioning and they shared inspirational insights about CRM for luxury services.


Feb 21st (10am to 11am): Exploring Roger Vivier
MSc Global Luxury Management students met Marie Lavaud, MSc GLM alumni and product manager for Roger Vivier who presented the history of the brand, the strategies and future challenges.

This meeting was also an occasion for MSc GLM students to analyse with our guest speaker possible career opportunities offered by the programme.


Feb 21st afternoon: Visit to Fragonard museum.
Located in the heart of Paris, just close to Opera, Fragonard museum offered MSc GLM students an extraordinary olfactory experience on the history of perfume and associations between fragrances and luxury brands. The guided visit ended with a workshop where students were taught to recognise different kinds of essences and appreciate essence schemes.
