Students Carla Maritaud (23) and Wendy Razafindraibe (24) wanted to know more about the Latin American market and chose Belo Horizonte to complete their master's courses because they felt attracted by Brazilian culture. Sanjith Prasad (24), born in India, says he already feels at home after just over a week in Belo Horizonte: "I chose to come to Brazil because I believe the country has many things in common with India".

Orientation Day and Welcome Week – the associate dean of SKEMA in Brazil, Geneviève Poulingue, presented important information about SKEMA and courses, followed by a lecture with Police Major Mirlir Cunha, from the military police of the State of Minas Gerais.

Students attended an inaugural class about Brazil, its culture and economy with SKEMA’s professor, Paulo de Castro. Before going for a Brazilian lunch, they saw a capoeira dance presentation with the Abadá Group. Throughout the Welcome Week, both academic and cultural activities were planned for students. “SKEMA's Belo Horizonte campus wanted to share Brazilian culture with the new students in an exciting way and offer them the best experience. That’s why, in 2020 we've further improved Orientation Day with new activities, like cooking, dancing sessions and much more”, explained Gabriel Sampaio who was responsible for organising the day's events.

During the afternoon, students attended specific classes with course directors,

The SKEMA Brazil campus has already welcomed some 2.000 (non-Brazilian) students to Belo Horizonte since 2015 when it began operations in Brazil. "All of SKEMA's campuses are located in renowned business centres and close to technological and industrial centres, so that they offer students good opportunities and career prospects," explains SKEMA's Brazilian associate dean, Geneviève Poulingue, about the choice of Belo Horizonte for the location of the school's first campus in Latin America. She also adds that Brazil continues to be very attractive to young people and offers a great learning journey. For her, the success of this orientation day and welcome week reflects Brazilian generosity and the involvement of SKEMA’s Brazilian team.
