SKEMA Brazil: Virtual Cities Project delivers first solution

Published on 04 January 2021

The first results of the Virtual Cities Project have been delivered to Rúmina S.A, a fintech created by SKEMA alumnus Pedro Peixoto.

December 14, BBA students on the Brazil campus delivered the final results of the Virtual Cities Project first semester solution. The goal for this semester was to deliver a report on agribusiness, with an emphasis on milk production, to the project’s first partner, Rúmina S.A, a fintech created by SKEMA alumnus Pedro Peixoto.

The agribusiness sector is important for many small businesses and producers in Brazil, so the project aims to empower these producers by helping them improve productivity. Students had to create an organisational structure, develop solutions, and carry out specific market research.

The agribusiness sector is one of the largest in the Brazilian market and SKEMA developed an opportunity for students to be involved in such a big part of the economy. Professors were connected with students all semester, helping them access tools and knowledge.

“We provided the students with an environment where they are going to work with real companies and challenges to develop competences and skills that they would not be able to develop in only one internship. It’s very important to offer them the opportunity to analyse not only the financial and technological aspect of the project, but also to create, think and train a manager mindset and experience”, explained Professor Ana Cristina Gazzola, one of the mentors, with Professor Max Cirino de Mattos and Professor Priscila Malaguti.
