SKEMA USA mentorship programme

Published on 16 February 2021

This semester, more than 60 SKEMA US students have enrolled in the mentorship programme offered on the Raleigh campus. This joint effort between SKEMA US and the Global Training Initiative at NC State University allows SKEMA students to connect with and learn from experienced professionals in the local community.

Students are paired with mentors based on the style of mentorship they opt for: professional, cultural, or both. Through these interactions, SKEMA students have the opportunity to gain valuable professional guidance and to sharpen the skills they will need for post-graduation success in a global economy: high professionalism, leadership, cross-cultural communication, networking, cultural adaptability.

Randy Schawel, the programme director, says that “the programme allows students to create relationships that will have a positive impact on their experience at SKEMA US and on their careers after graduation. In return, mentors benefit from meeting and interacting with dedicated international students. Students have much to offer and are eager to share about their culture, families, and personal goals.”

The programme, which had tremendous success in 2020, is launching a brand new feature this month: the Expert Council, a group of professionals willing to answer specific career questions and share insight into their areas of expertise through a one-on-one session.
