Suzhou campus students visit internet giant Tencent

Published on 15 November 2018

31 October, 50 Suzhou students visited the Shanghai HQ of Tencent. Tencent is one of the world’s biggest tech firms. Tencent provides everyday integrated internet solutions for over 1 billion netizens.

After arriving at the Shanghai headquarters, students first had an online meeting with Tencent Shenzhen HQ. Daniel Shu (Tencent director of Strategy, Corporate Strategy department, director of Business Management, Advertising and Marketing Service) gave a presentation of company overview, corporate strategy, corporate culture and social responsibility, giving students the big picture about Tencent and how this leading internet services provider operates in China.

Afterwards, students visited the Tencent building and had a tour around the workplace, including a garden on the rooftop and a few fitness rooms. In the exhibition hall, technologies such as AI and big data and how they are applied in staff management and smart buildings were presented. In the end, Phoebe Yuan (Tencent Shanghai recruitment manager) introduced the job/intern opportunities and recruitment process to SKEMA students.

Matthieu Dumont (director of SKEMA Suzhou campus) said, "SKEMA China Career Service has a strong and varied corporate portfolio to offer our students true immersion into the Chinese corporate world. This time, it was a fantastic opportunity for our SKEMA Business School students in China to get to know and explore internally one of the most iconic and successful Chinese companies: Tencent."
