Following a survey of female students in higher education by the FAGE (federation of general student associations), it emerged that a third of them needed financial assistance to buy sanitary protection. The Enactus association decided to take action, and installed two dispensers on the Lille campus, with SKEMA's support. The students worked closely with a French company on this initiative.
"The project has been in the pipeline for a long time. We worked with the startup Fava, a young French company that produces GOTS-certified organic cotton sanitary pads with biodegradable packaging, in a production plant that is also responsible, and endeavours to help people get back into the job market. It is also committed to the fight against menstrual insecurity," says Emma Ochs, a third-year student in the Master in Management (PGE) programme and a member of the Enactus association.
At the same time, the association has joined forces with the HeForShe association, which promotes gender equality and regularly organises awareness-raising campaigns on menstrual insecurity, in line with its social purpose.
