Organised
every two years by SKEMA and UCA, the Pierre de Coubertin International
Colloquium brings together French and international researchers to discuss
issues related to sport and its ecosystem. On October 13, they will be present
at the National Sports Museum in Nice for the official launch. "We are
expecting around 400 participants for this conference, which will be organised
both face-to-face and remotely.
It will open with a visit to the National
Sports Museum, and in the following two days, we will be present on the SKEMA
campus in Sophia Antipolis for the conferences," said SKEMA professor Ivan
Coste-Manière, director of the MSc Luxury and Fashion Management programme and
co-organiser of the event.
Conferences and publications
For three days, the conferences will focus on sports and, more precisely, its relationship with art. Some speakers, such as Georges Vigarello (EHESS) or Jean-Loup Chappelet (University of Lausanne), will ask the public to consider, for example, the real interest (televisual or artistic) of the opening shows in the Olympic Games ceremony. Other researchers, such as Betty Lefèvre from the University of Rouen, will examine the proximity between "sports shows and artistic performances" by athletes. "The presentations will be compiled in a report at the end of the conference," said Ivan Coste-Manière.
Inauguration of a work in Olympia
As a highlight, Diane de Navacelle de Coubertin, a descendant of the creator of the modern Olympic Games, will inaugurate a three-metre high, 600kg artistic creation by Ivan Coste-Manière in Olympia.
