Class of 2012-13
"This human resource management MSc gave me the boost needed to get my career going in the right direction. In an international setting, with real-life professional HR practitioners sharing their knowledge and experience, I have gained a holistic view of the human resource field as well as strategic business management in general.
With a blend of exciting projects mixed with theory and network building, I would say this experience has been a rich and well-rounded one. The programme helped me to get a deeper understanding of the business setting from an HR perspective and allowed me also to analyse the international dynamics involved.
Having completed the course of study, I am now doing my internship at Schneider Electric in Paris as a learning and development assistant providing training solutions for their multinational employee base."
Class of 2011-12
"Imagine having classes with 25 students of 10 different nationalities!
On the MSc International Human Resources & Performance Management I’ve experienced cultural diversities and challenges throughout the year. Sometimes the cultural divide would create difficult obstacles to overcome, but these were valuable learning experiences.
The second semester’s classes have been excellent– very practical; the knowledge acquired is closely connected to the professional world because the lecturers have a lot of professional experience. There has been real diversity in lecturers too. That’s helped us comprehend the complexity of HR issues.
The in-company practice we got has been another advantage of this MSc. My group carried out an audit in a large company’s (Cargill) HR department in Sophia Antipolis. It was very useful practical application. My communication skills have seen real advances thanks to, among other things, the Negotiation Skills class. Added to that, I have progressed significantly in terms of international and cross-cultural communication. And I can now understand all the different accents there are in English too!"
"All the lectures are delivered by professionals who want to share their vision and their field of expertise. I learnt through their experiences and passion for HR.
Team projects and lectures gave me a realistic approach to the challenges of being a human resources manager. I also appreciated learning in SKEMA’s multicultural environment since ‘diversity’ is an important topic in HR.
Today I am doing an internship in L’Oreal as HR manager’s assistant (working on: skills development and training engineering, recruitment, internal communication, union relations) and I feel well prepared and confident about entering professional life."
"I wanted to pursue my studies in an international and dynamic environment and SKEMA Business School offered me this opportunity. I have met students of different origins, cultures and backgrounds. Both the programme director and teachers have been really helpful and attentive. The programme has given me the knowledge and skills I was looking for.
I now feel ready to enter professional life. Indeed, I have found my internship at Ingenico, a leader in electronic payment, in Paris. I’ll be working in the Corporate HR department in relation with the international HR partners. My objective was to find an internship in an international environment and I’ve achieved that!"
Class of 2010-11
"This MSc has been a great opportunity to develop my skills in a practical and international environment. HR professionals taught the courses by mixing theory and practice at a corporate level.
Professional contributors from a variety of industries (IT, consumer goods, banking, etc.) and researchers in HR have given relevant and dynamic input to courses. Throughout, the emphasis has been on the real-world application of knowledge.
The master covered all HR fields and we were able to put all of them in practice while learning the theory in order to prepare us for our careers. Working on team projects, we have developed our communication and negotiation skills significantly. This was also a great opportunity to share different backgrounds and cultures due to the international and diverse mix of students on the MSc.
After the master and thanks to SKEMA’s Career Centre, I got an internship as an HR generalist in an Indian b2b company in Mumbai that manufactures electronic components for firms like Siemens, Bosch, Areva ... I'll be taking care of three plants and their staff."
"Choosing this MSc is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I learnt about it when I met the school’s international admissions representative in Bangalore, India. SKEMA’s ranking, its multiple campuses around the world and its strong international culture appealed to me.
This MSc has provided a solid foundation in human resource management by giving access to professors with strong research backgrounds as well as industry experts from diverse organisations. This fusion has given me a more realistic understanding of human resource management which will be an advantage in my career. The multi-cultural environment, teamwork-based assignments, support by the Careers Centre counsellors and guidance by the MSc director and all my professors have made my master’s degree a truly splendid experience.
Among several offers, I have chosen to pursue an internship for the next six months with Orange Business Services in Paris as the HR international assistant. I will be working with my manager based in New York on HR projects that will be implemented at various Orange offices around the world."
"The MSc was a great opportunity to enhance my skills in human resources. The programme has the right balance between the theoretical and the practical. This approach is reinforced by the diversity of its lecturers. We had dynamic and interactive lectures with both PhD teachers and professionally active contributors. It gave a real competitive advantage to the master: providing the basis of human resources fundamentals and preparing students for the reality of the labour market.
Regarding class atmosphere, cohesion among students helped me to perform in group projects and to enjoy the year. The geographical and profile diversity within the group was a real chance for us to share experiences, cultures and ideas.
At the end of my MSc, I have now had the opportunity to become consultant in an HR consulting firm. The mission is focused on middle and top management recruitment, with the commercial development of the company business."
"This MSc was a real opportunity to apply the theory to real, professional contexts. Both the professionals and academics who taught the classes were very committed. Their inputs covered all the range of HR. In the Audit class, we had the opportunity to work with a company based in Sophia Antipolis to carry out an audit in actual in-company conditions.
The emphasis put on the international dimension was also highly motivating. Studying in a class of 21 students in which half of them come from foreign countries was very challenging and helped us to open our minds and be prepared for working in this globalised world!
I’ve already got an internship at an IT company based in Lyon called Agixis. I’m working in the HR department as a junior recruiter."
