About the campus

SKEMA's Stellenbosch campus is situated in Stellenbosch, about 50 kilometres from Cape Town, on the banks of the Eerste River in the famous wine-growing region, encircled by picturesque mountains.

SKEMA shares the building and facilities of Stellenbosch University – a huge documentation centre, a music school, concert halls, an athletics stadium, several Olympic swimming pools and sports fields (rugby, football, tennis, hockey, cricket, squash…).

Stellenbosch University's library, part of the SU Library and Information Service, is situated at the Stellenbosch campus. This central library is one of the biggest libraries in the world. 

The Stellenbosch campus also houses Neelsie, a commercial hub. It offers students a wide variety of commercial, financial and entertainment services.

The official languages spoken in the region are Afrikaans, English and IsiXhosa.

Nearby places

  • Tour of the Table Mountain: A prominent landmark in Cape Town, this flat-topped mountain is a big tourist attraction. You can reach it via a cableway or, if you're adventurous, by hiking. Other activities include rock climbing, caving and mountain biking.
  • Boat cruise to Robben Island: This is a renowned world heritage site famous for the prison that held many anti-apartheid leaders, including the late President Nelson Mandela.
  • Winery-hopping on a tuk-tuk: Tuk-tuks, a local mode of transport, offer a unique way of visiting various estates in the ​​Stellenbosch Winelands, without having to drive yourself. You can hop on a tuk bus or a small tuk-tuk.

Accommodation

The residence complex in Stellenbosch is comprised of 26 blocks and has a mix of different types of accommodation. Some of the ground-floor units can be adapted for use by physically challenged individuals.

The security and well-being of each resident are given high priority:

  • The perimeter is secured, offers 24-hour controlled access, and is monitored by CCTV cameras.
  • Residents use a biometric system to gain access.
  • The house allocated to SKEMA students is SAXENHOF – blocks 3, 4, 5 and 6. Each house has an assistant resident head, head of house, and vice-head mentor.
  • In case of an emergency, you can contact security via a specific number that will be given to you.
  • All facilities and departments are within walking distance from the residences. If you need to go to the R.W. Wilcocks building (where you will find the administrative team), it will take 15 minutes to walk.
