Research Centre on AI for Sustainable Value: new series of events

At SKEMA Center for Artificial Intelligence we believe in the transformative power of human-centric AI. Our mission is to explore how AI can drive business innovation, economic growth, and societal progress, creating a future where technology serves humanity in meaningful ways.

The SKEMA Centre for Artificial Intelligence aims to:

  • Investigate and guide the economic, societal, and ethical value generated by Human Centric AI systems for business.
  • Develop and improve AI techniques and algorithms with a view to solving specific business problems, but with wide-ranging applicability.

The research centre adopts a interdisciplinary perspective based on the collaboration between social scientists, AI researchers, and engineers to develop the know-how to explore business opportunities driven by AI.

SKEMA Centre for Artificial Intelligence has signed a partnership agreement with the Berkeley APEC Study Centre (BASC)​ at the University of California Berkeley to explore the impact of AI on business, society and regulations.

Research Themes

We explore how AI Systems interact and collaborate with people to enhance human abilities and empower both individual and society creating sustainable value at four different levels:

ALGORITHMIC VALUE

Developing artificiaI intelligence techniques and algorithms with increasingly superior performance. 

AI FOR BUSINESS VALUE

How AI becomes part of the products themselves, influences human-computer interactions, and improves business performance.

AI FOR SOCIETAL VALUE

How AI contributes to environmental sustainability and encourages a new social contract based on accountability.

AI FOR ETHICAL VALUE

How to foster explicability and responsible AI to guarantee social fairness in respect of human freedoms and dignity.

Iris Poon

Iris is a PhD student at SKEMA Business School. Her research focuses on understanding the impacts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on organizations, including changes in industry landscapes and competition dynamics. Specifically, she is investigating the outsourcing decisions of firms regarding AI technologies in the autonomous vehicle industry , as well as how firms utilize AI strategically. She obtained her Master’s degree in Applied Economics from the Paris School of Economics after completing her double-major degree in Economics and Finance at the University of Hong Kong.

Nathan Sorin

Nathan is PhD candidate at SKEMA Business School. His research focuses on the implications of firms’ AI-related strategies for business sustainability. He holds a "Grande Ecole" MSc in Management from emlyon Business School and a MPhil in Management Research from University Lyon III.

Lijun Xie

Lijun is currently a PhD student in the Management specialization at SKEMA Business School. Her research will address the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in digital marketing. She holds a MSc in Artificial intelligence and Business Transformation from Skema Business School and ESIEA engineering shool, and a bachelor's degree in Economics and Management from the University of Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas.

Miriam Rabeya Cuartas

Miriam is a PhD candidate at SKEMA Business School, with research interests centered on redefining human work in the age of artificial intelligence. She explores how strategically outsourcing tasks to AI can enhance the unique qualities of human labor and unlock creativity. Miriam holds an MSc in International Marketing and Business Development from SKEMA Business School, France, and a BA in Global Brand and Fashion Management from the International School of Management in Germany.
