Having lived, studied and worked internationally from an early age (in Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, United States and France), Anke studied History and German at the University of Sussex (Brighton, UK) with a focus on modern European History. 

She subsequently worked for the European Commission, first in Brussels, then in Washington, DC. During her time in the United States, she edited the EU's monthly US-EU magazine "Europe", focusing on trans-Altantic business, trade and cultural affairs. Her interest in European/international affairs subsequently led her to work for the European department of British local government.

In 2022, she began a Masters of Arts in Intercultural Communication (University of Bedfordshire, UK), followed by a career in corporate training for large multinational organisations on topics such as intercultural teams, ex-, in- and repatriation, developing intercultural competence. Her clients include London-based law and financial firms, large French and German multinationals (e.g., Air Liquide, Vallourex, AXA, Siemens, Valeo, Astrium (now Airbus Group) and many more. 

She joined SKEMA as a member of the faculty in 2011, managing several MSc programmes before heading up the Global EMBA. In terms of teaching, she has taught a tange of topics, ranging from courses linking history and culture; courses to enhance intercultural awareness; intercultural competence development; creativity and out-of-the-box thinking with LEGO Serious Play.
