Impact

Hope is SKEMA's humanitarian, social, and environmental association, and it is present on the Lille, Paris, Sophia Antipolis, and Belo Horizonte campuses.

Overview

Hope is the humanitarian, social, and environmental association of SKEMA, present on several campuses, promoting values of solidarity, mutual aid, and sharing through local and international missions.

Impact

Present on all SKEMA campuses, HOPE is a multi-campus student humanitarian association committed to social justice, solidarity and environmental protection. Its activities are closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly quality education (SDG 4), reduced inequalities (SDG 10) and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17). The association regularly organises workshops, solidarity collections, awareness campaigns and school visits, offering students the opportunity to take concrete action for a fairer and more sustainable world.

Keys events

LILLE

Our local missions:

  • ASE: the Social and Environmental Actions mission works mainly through marauding trips every week, in partnership with Lille aux Etoiles. This year, this mission is also keen to work with L’Arche to organize meetings with people with disabilities.
  • Tutoring: this mission provides regular academic support to middle school students in priority education zones in the Lille metropolitan area (Martha Desrumaux and La Cordée)
  • Animal protection: this brand-new mission aims to raise awareness of the animal condition and to work for this cause, by setting up distributions of kibble during HOPE maraudes or a foster family system to collect cats while awaiting their adoption (with the association L’Arbre à chats)

Our international missions:

  • Vietnam: In collaboration with the association Les Sampaniers du Vietnam, the Vietnam mission provides financial and material aid, as well as human support to the La Maison des Affections orphanage in Hue in central Vietnam.
  • Cambodia: the Cambodia mission has chosen to once again partner with the NGO Taramana to help the Cambodian populations and allow children to access quality education.
  • Togo: the West Africa mission joins forces for a second time with the Djidjole Afrique association, in order to provide material, financial and human support to the village of Avetonou in Togo
  • Latin America: this new mission remains to be defined but the objective is to work on access to water, education (particularly sexual) and food.

Our events:

  • The Smet Gala: it is a themed charity gala co-organized with the Métamorphose fashion association of SKEMA Lille. The funds raised are intended for our various international missions.
  • La Lilloise: it is a charity race which takes place at La Citadelle in Lille. The objective is to raise funds for a partner association and to have a good time and a great race.
  • Transition Week: it is an inter-association competition (organized by the ASE mission) which aims to promote ecological issues and encourage everyone to get involved.

PARIS

Our projects:

  • Charity concert: Now in its 4th edition, this musical and festive event aims to raise funds for the Odyssea association, which supports breast cancer research, while offering students a unique cultural evening with live concerts and a DJ set.
  • Environment Week: A week dedicated to raising awareness of ecological transition issues, both on a personal level and within companies.
  • Charity run for Cheer Up: A 7 km race organized by Cheer Up branches to raise awareness among students about the fight against cancer, where each kilometer run equals one euro donated to Cheer Up.
  • Outreach missions: Held twice a month, these initiatives provide essential aid to those in need by distributing food, hot drinks, and hygiene kits, while fostering social connections through conversation and support.
  • Toy collection: Organized to offer gifts to children as part of the Madagascar mission.
  • Humanitarian trip to Madagascar: Five members of the association will travel to Madagascar to deliver the collected donations (toys, etc.), meet the children, and financially support the construction of two new buildings (a pharmacy and a teacher training facility), as well as the expansion of daily meal distributions.
  • Malagasy buffet: In collaboration with SKEMAFRICA, this buffet serves as an opportunity to promote the Madagascar mission by sharing a meal featuring the island’s colors and specialties.
  • Gala: This prestigious gala, held in an exceptional place in Paris, will bring together HOPE and SKEMA Alumni to highlight our projects, particularly the Madagascar mission, and mobilize our network to raise funds in support of this solidarity initiative.

SOPHIA

  • The international division organizes annual humanitarian trips to aid local populations (education, construction, etc.), with this year's trip to Mayotte partly financed by our annual Charity Gala fundraising event.
  • The local humanitarian division organizes several events that have an impact in the department, notably food drives with the Alpes-Maritimes Food Bank, as well as other collaborations with campus associations.
  • The environmental division organizes monthly Clean Walks and hosts Environment Week, which will take place from September 16 to 22, 2025, with other campus associations.
  • The animal division plans weekly walks for animals from the SPA.

BELO

  • Upcycling,“ Bate Papo Outubro Rosa“
  • Collection and “Tempo de Mesa”

SUZHOU

Present on all SKEMA campuses, HOPE is a humanitarian student association committed to social justice, solidarity and environmental protection. In Suzhou, since 2019, students have organised visits to a school for children of migrant workers, delivering fun and educational workshops. This initiative reflects the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 10 (reduced inequalities) and SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals).

  • Gansu school mission: The Gansu mission was a major project for HOPE in partnership with a local charity called Tang Ma Ma. The main mission was to raise sufficient funds to finance school supplies for children living in the remote mountainous region of Gansu province, in north-east China. Four members of the team visited the school to meet the children and present them with the schoolbags, hats and scarves they had obtained thanks to their hard work throughout the semester.
  • International Cultural Carnival food court: Every year, HOPE participates in a local event called the Dushu Lake International Cultural Carnival, where foreign students are invited to set up a food court to showcase their country's cuisine and sell typical dishes. HOPE has set up a French cuisine stand to raise funds to support its projects.
