From SKEMA to the world of professional triathlon

Originally from Alpe d'Huez, Léa Riccoboni graduated from SKEMA Business School's Master in Management (PGE) programme in 2018. She quickly embraced the school's international footprint, moving to Brazil and then to SKEMA's Raleigh campus in the United States.

During her gap year in 2017, she secured two consecutive internships with Adidas—first in Germany and then in Panama. A few years later, having attained her degree, she was hired by a company in Chile. An athlete since childhood, drawn to competition and endurance challenges, Léa pursued long-distance triathlon alongside her career. In 2024, she triumphed as an amateur in several major events, including IRONMAN 70.3 San Juan (Argentina), IRONMAN 70.3 Lima (Chile), and the IRONMAN World Championships in Nice (France).

Her discipline, perseverance, and ambition — shaped by her academic background and international professional experiences — are powerful assets in her sporting career.

Building on these successes, Léa decided to devote herself entirely to building a career as a triathlete by turning professional — an ambitious project she is pursuing with determination, commitment and enthusiasm. SKEMA is proud to stand by her in this new chapter — a continuation of her career path.

The long-distance triathlon - IRONMAN

The long-distance triathlon, often represented by Ironman competitions, consists of a series of combined endurance events. Athletes must complete a 3.8 km swim, followed by a 180 km bike ride, before finishing with a 42.195 km marathon.

There is also an intermediate version, the IRONMAN 70.3, which is approximately half the distance of a classic Ironman (1.9 km swim, 90 km bike ride and 21.1 km run).

This discipline requires intense physical and mental preparation, an excellent balance between the three sports (swimming, cycling, and running), and optimal energy management over extreme distances, making long-distance triathlon one of the most demanding challenges in the world.
