On 8 and 9 June, the Sophia Antipolis campus will host a high-level international conference dedicated to the organisation and regulation of financial markets.

Organised by the FAIRR research centre (Finance & Accounting Insights on Risk and Regulation), led by Fabio Bertoni, the event will bring together researchers and public policy decision-makers from some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, including Princeton University, Columbia Business School, The Wharton School, Toulouse School of Economics, HEC Paris, the US Federal Reserve, the Bank of Canada, the Bank of England and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).

In an environment shaped by technological change, the rise of instant payments and new challenges in banking regulation, participants will examine how market structures influence the functioning of the global financial system.

Speakers will include:

  • Jakub Kastl, Princeton University
  • Milena Wittwer, Columbia Business School
  • Catherine Casamatta, Toulouse School of Economics

One of the highlights of the conference will be the round table “The role of research in designing financial regulations”, chaired by Florencio Lopez de Silanes, professor of finance at SKEMA and strategic director of the PhD in Management. The session will bring together senior representatives from the Bank of England, the Banque de France and the Bank for International Settlements to discuss the growing role of research in shaping financial policy.

Through this event, SKEMA confirms its ambition to strengthen its international reputation in finance, economics and public policy by bringing together on its campus experts who are helping to shape the financial regulations of the future.
