The fifth issue of Glimpse, SKEMA Business School’s magazine, is now available. This edition marks a new step, with the magazine now released in a digital format, accessible online to the entire SKEMA community. At its core lies a question that appears simple, yet carries major implications: “Globalisation: stop or carry on?”

“Hyperglobalisation has slowed down. The challenges, however, have intensified,” sums up Ioannis Bournakis, Professor of Economics at SKEMA. Between economic projections, geopolitical fractures and technological innovation, Glimpse No. 5 examines a form of globalisation under strain, far removed from the certainties of previous decades.

The magazine captures this turning point through a series of analyses that question the end of hyperglobalisation. In the world of 2025, companies must rethink their strategies with renewed caution and adapt in order to transform and comply. Drawing on the work of Laurent Ferrara and Ioannis Bournakis, both Professors of Economics, Glimpse highlights a globalisation that has become more uneven, less linear, and increasingly shaped by geopolitical forces that redefine its framework.

Alongside Laurent Ferrara and Ioannis Bournakis, Frédéric Munier provides a structuring perspective on the reconfiguration of global value chains. He analyses the renewed influence of states in economic decision-making, the rise of sovereignty-driven strategies and the impact of geopolitical tensions on location and production choices. His contribution points to a less fluid form of globalisation, marked by political and industrial trade-offs that have become central.

Alumni perspectives to cross viewpoints

This tension also runs through interviews with two emblematic alumni. Fabienne Arata-Camps (SKEMA 1988), Country Manager of LinkedIn France, examines the impact of these shifts on career paths. The labour market is becoming a space where skills, data and AI intersect. Careers are built on adaptable skill sets rather than fixed trajectories, reflecting a globalised environment that values mobility and agility.

Anthony Cirot (SKEMA 2000), Vice President EMEA South at Google Cloud, offers a strategic view of the infrastructure underpinning this fragmented globalisation. He describes a global cloud that must contend not only with local regulations, but also with security requirements and growing expectations around digital sovereignty.

Now available in a digital format

For the first time, Glimpse is now available in a digital format. The magazine can be accessed online at glimpse.skema.edu, allowing the entire SKEMA community to read the articles, explore the features and follow the interviews seamlessly, across all campuses.
