Four students from SKEMA Business School’s MSc Financial Markets & Investments programme stood out by reaching the final of the Global Case Competition at Harvard – one of the most demanding and prestigious academic contests in corporate finance. They had the rare opportunity to step inside the iconic Harvard campus.

Red-brick walkways, flags bearing the university crest fluttering in the Cambridge wind, and the imposing silhouette of Widener Library watching over a campus steeped in tradition – the scene was set.

After a rigorous selection process involving over 300 teams from leading universities worldwide, the team SKEMA FMI Partners – Antoine Pasco, Maÿlis Mircich, Maksim Nastasovic and Lamberto Maria Ermete Ferrero – earned a place among the global top 10. They were invited to Harvard to pitch their M&A strategy before a jury of seasoned finance professionals. A milestone achievement for the programme, which saw one of its teams ranked among the most promising young talents in global finance.

Sessions, pitches, feedback and workshops

Over several days at the prestigious American university, the students took part in a packed schedule: oral presentations, high-level feedback sessions, workshops, and encounters with Boston Consulting Group experts. “Wearing SKEMA’s colours at Harvard alongside Maÿlis was a real source of pride. Finding ourselves in the global top 10, surrounded by brilliant teams from all over the world, was both intense and incredibly stimulating. In just a few days, we were immersed in international finance — from technical sessions with BCG to deep dives into M&A strategy. The environment, the standard, the energy... it gave me real confidence for what’s next,” says Antoine Pasco, MSc Financial Markets & Investments student.

"An incredible level of intensity"

Team captain Maÿlis Mircich adds: “Representing SKEMA in a competition of this calibre was truly an honour. Those few days at Harvard were incredibly intense – combining intellectual rigour, exchanges with outstanding students from across the globe, and advice from top professionals.”

The academic support provided by SKEMA, along with access to key facilities such as the Bloomberg room on the Grand Paris campus, enabled the team to prepare under optimal conditions for their participation at Harvard.
