Maxine Borreda (Master in Management – PGE) joins Women@Dior: “I'm drawn to programmes that promote leadership and commitment”

Maxine Borreda, a Master in Management (PGE) student at SKEMA Business School's Suzhou campus, has been selected for the 2025–2026 cohort of the prestigious Women@Dior programme, run by the iconic fashion house in partnership with UNESCO. She shares her experience, ambitions, and the values that guide her.
How did you discover Women@Dior?
I found out about the programme during my exchange semester in Suzhou, thanks to a local campaign promoted on campus. I’ve always been attracted to initiatives that highlight engagement, leadership and creating value with a responsible mindset. Women@Dior embodied that spirit. I didn’t think I would be selected, but I received tremendous support from the SKEMA Suzhou team, who helped me shape my application.
You submitted a video in English, with Mandarin subtitles. What was the thinking behind that?
The format was open. I wanted to reflect my strong local connection to China while showing I could speak to an international audience. I aimed to create a video that felt both genuine and professional. It was a demanding process—but a fascinating one.
You're about to begin a double degree in Product Management & UX Design. What does being selected mean to you?
It’s both an honour and a responsibility. Women@Dior is more than a mentorship scheme—it’s an international community of young women committed to leadership and change, backed by Dior and UNESCO. The programme includes training modules on autonomy, leadership and sustainability, and each participant is encouraged to develop a real-world project through the Dream for Change initiative. That sense of collective impact is what motivates me most. We also benefit from monthly coaching with a Dior manager.
Your journey reflects a strong international focus and a passion for the luxury sector. What drives you?
I have a dual passion for creativity and functionality. I enjoy seeing an idea take shape as a product—when form meets purpose. I’ve completed two internships in product development, at Issey Miyake Fragrances (Shiseido) and Tartine et Chocolat. These taught me to consider every detail of the customer experience. I was also a France finalist in the 2024 L’Oréal Brandstorm challenge—an eye-opening experience in strategy and innovation.
What’s next after SKEMA?
I’ll be starting a dual degree co-developed by SKEMA and Politecnico di Milano, between Paris and Milan, in MSc Product Management & UX Design. I hope to design sustainable, user-focused products in the luxury sector—or beyond. I want to keep learning, but also start giving back.
Any advice for those considering applying to Women@Dior?
Don’t self-censor. The programme values authenticity, dedication and a willingness to act. Being yourself is key. And so is asking for support—I couldn’t have completed my application without the guidance of the SKEMA Suzhou team.
