At the heart of the event is Repro Mark, the Reproductive Marketing Research Group, co-founded by Jennifer Takhar and Chloe He from UCL. The interdisciplinary research collective examines how reproductive technologies and services, from fertility treatments to biotechnology, are increasingly shaped by market forces.

An Associate Professor of Marketing at SKEMA, Jennifer Takhar is a member of the Transformation Academy and the Marketing Interactions (MINT) research center. Her research spans Consumer Culture Theory, biotechnology markets, digital consumption, gender, posthumanism and bioethics.

“I am interested in how markets are being reconfigured by biotechnologies and digital technologies,” explains Jennifer Takhar, whose research explores what happens when intimate experiences involving the body, health and reproduction become part of economic markets.

The programme will address in vitro gametogenesis, inequalities in access to reproductive markets, fertility technologies, LGBTQ+ fertility services and IVF decision-making. SKEMA researchers Tom van Laer and Pelin Geyik will also contribute to the discussions.

The day will conclude with an international roundtable on markets, technologies and new forms of reproductive governance, followed by the presentation of Repro Mark’s future research agenda and international collaborations.
