SKEMA hosted the 52nd Annual Conference of the European Finance Association in Paris
SKEMA Business School had the honour of hosting the 52nd Annual Conference of the European Finance Association (EFA) on its Grand Paris campus. The event brought together more than 800 scholars and practitioners from across the globe and provided a comprehensive overview of the latest research in finance.
Two highlights stood out: a round table with Nobel Prize laureate Lars Peter Hansen, Catherine Wolfram and Andrew Blease, and an opening lecture delivered by Monika Piazzesi. The programme as a whole reflected the scientific rigour of the EFA, with a demanding selection process conducted by the track chairs, the scientific committee and the reviewers. “Huge thanks to Laurent Calvet, Helen Bollaert and all the teams at SKEMA and EFA for working so hard to organize the EFA 2025 Meetings in Paris. I know all too well how keen many people at EFA, not least outstanding EFA pillar Pradeep Yadav, had been on having these Meetings in Paris, and how big the challenge and the workload were. Great to be a track chair and to put together and chair the session on Financial Technology. Many thanks to Jon Frost, Caroline Genc, Simon Mayer Huang Tan, Vincent Tena, and Hongda Zhong for making such a great session! And below you can see a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes of such conferences other than the dinners in small circles where we exchange ideas and information. Christopher Hennessy and I were back to our favourite French café to do research at 9am this Sunday morning!” said Gilles Chemla, Professor of Finance and Director of the Centre for Financial Technology at Imperial College Business School, and track chair at this year’s edition, on LinkedIn.
“Hosting this edition in Paris was a unique experience”
Laurent Calvet, Professor of Finance at SKEMA and scientific programme chair of the conference, remarked: “The quality of contributions and exchanges illustrates the vitality and high standards of research in finance. Hosting this edition in Paris was a unique experience, made possible by collective effort and the support of our partners.”

Several leading partners contributed to the success of the conference: Banque de France, Bank for International Settlements (BIS), Groupe Caisse des Dépôts, Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP), Dimensional Fund Advisors, EUROFIDAI, European Central Bank, Journal of Pension Economics and Finance, Copenhagen Pension Research Center (PeRCent), Moody’s Ratings, Fondation Natixis, Norges Bank Investment Management and Fondation SCOR.
Following Paris, the 53rd edition of the EFA will take place in 2026 in Ghent, Belgium, under the scientific leadership of Stijn Van Nieuwerburgh, with Koen Inghelbrecht responsible for local organisation.
