Student Life: SKEMA's Campus Associations Kick Off the Year with Inclusive and Charitable Projects
The student associations at SKEMA Business School are starting the year with a series of events combining sports, culture, and charity. Through initiatives such as La Lilloise, the Lille Paris Sophia à Vélo intercampus sports and charity project, and the Nuisances SoNord festival, SKEMA students are demonstrating their commitment.
La Lilloise: A Charity Race That Has Become Essential
On 9th November 2024, La Lilloise will celebrate its 8th edition. Organised by the sports office Sk’imperious and the humanitarian association HOPE, this charity race brings together SKEMA students, the Lille student community, and residents of the greater Lille metropolis every year. Starting from the Citadel Park, the race aims to become a major annual event in the region. In 2024, all funds raised will go to the association Les Enfants de la Balle, which seeks to create inclusive sports clubs for children with disabilities.
Lille Paris Sophia à Vélo: A New Queen of the Classics, Charitable and Multicampus
This year, SKEMA students launched a large-scale challenge with the Lille Paris Sophia à Vélo project. This sporting challenge aims to connect the school's three French campuses – Lille, Paris, and Sophia Antipolis – by bicycle, while supporting the Les Enfants de la Balle association. Set to become the largest student cycling race in France (reminiscent of a certain Paris-Roubaix), Lille Paris Sophia à Vélo represents both personal achievement and mutual support, bringing the entire student community together for a charitable cause. In the south of France, students will ride to their Sophia Antipolis campus, starting from Marseille, covering 261 km from 1st to 10th October. In Lille, students from Lille and Paris will cycle from the Capital of Flanders to the French capital, covering 237 km from 28th to 30th September.
Nuisances SoNord: Music in the Service of Solidarity
On 17th October 2024, Lille will host the third edition of the Nuisances SoNord festival, an inter-school music event that has become a key date for students in the Lille metropolis. Organised by the Sonord association, this festival brings together young talents from five major schools, with a shared goal: to celebrate music while supporting social and environmental causes. This year, students have chosen to support La Maison des femmes de Saint-Denis, an association that helps women in difficulty or victims of violence, with a donation of 1000 euros. The event will take place at Le Splendid, with artist Leto, who boasts 2.5 million monthly listens on Spotify, headlining the evening.
Other Events at Sophia Antipolis:
- Race Against Hunger, 10th October, organised by the Sports Office in connection with Action Against Hunger from the Alpes Maritimes.
- SKEMA Against Cancer, 14th October, organised by the Arts Office at the Sophia Antipolis campus.
