Young Ambassadors in Action: SKEMA and CSU Explore Finance, Culture, and Innovation in Changsha, China
On the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations, SKEMA and China's prestigious Central South University (CSU) launched the "Young Ambassadors to Central South" project in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, in beginning Sept 2025.
Strategically positioned in the heart of south-central China along the vital Yangtze River economic belt—which connects China's eastern coastal regions with its western interior—Changsha serves as an ideal location for this groundbreaking initiative that marks a significant milestone in academic cooperation and cultural exchange between the two institutions.
Academic Exchange and Sustainable Finance Insights
Led by Professor Dhafer Saidane, Director of the MSc Sustainable Finance & Fintech, SKEMA students joined on 8 September, CSU counterparts for the first phase of the project, the Sino-French Youth Sustainable Finance Seminar and Practice Exploration.
At the opening ceremony, CSU’s Deputy Director of International Cooperation Chen Qiang emphasized the program’s significance, while Professor Wei Ping, Deputy Dean of CSU’s Business School, introduced the project’s objectives. Professor Saidane highlighted SKEMA’s expertise in corporate and sustainable finance and expressed optimism for future collaboration.
The seminar featured academic exchanges on ESG investment, AI in green banking credit, and zero-carbon financial instruments. Faculty from both institutions delivered keynote speeches, underlining shared priorities in sustainable finance and global innovation. Students engaged in discussions on cooperation models, joint programs, and talent cultivation.
Corporate Visits and Cultural Immersion
In addition to seminars, participants visited Sany Heavy Industry Park, Guolian Minsheng Securities, and CSU’s History Museum, gaining insights into corporate practices and Hunan’s cultural heritage. Students described the experience as both inspiring and transformative. Master in Management M2 students Hadrien Delapalme and Ines Tavea shared their reflections. “I am extremely grateful for this exchange trip to Changsha! The modern campus, warm hospitality, and inspiring lectures made the experience meaningful,” said Delapalme. Tavea added, “This exchange activity was a fulfilling and unforgettable experience. From inspiring lectures to meaningful discussions, every moment broadened my horizons.”
The project reflects SKEMA’s commitment to international cooperation and experiential learning. Building on this first phase, both universities aim to deepen their collaboration in business education and sustainable development.
