Who we are

The FAIRR research centre comprises about 25 faculty members in finance and accounting and about 10 PhD students from the internal PhD in finance and accounting.

Its general mission is to offer valuable insights into regulatory and corporate changes for finance and accounting to various stakeholders of SKEMA. It is dedicated to promoting top-level research and best practices in corporate finance, market finance (investment) and accounting. To reach this goal, the research centre manages a PhD programme that trains students for an academic career, makes numerous research tools and databases available to its members, and organises academic conferences and workshops, along with weekly research seminars.

What we do

Research activities of FAIRR encompass three broad research themes: accounting and society; international financial markets and risk; and corporate governance, regulation and entrepreneurial finance. Within these three broad, over-arching categories, the members of FAIRR are developing cutting-edge expertise in the following areas: (i) digital finance, (ii) governance, intermediaries and financial regulation. FAIRR aims at becoming internationally recognised, particularly in these two areas.

Our members have presented their work on these topics at academic and professional conferences and international institutions. Their work has led to publications in top-ranked journals in finance, accounting, management, economics and entrepreneurial finance (including American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Corporate Finance, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Economic Journal and Journal of Business Venturing, and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice).
