KTO is an interdisciplinary research centre on innovation, strategy, economics, and organisation, affiliated with CNRS-GREDEG at Université Côte d’Azur. Its mission is to shape the academic and policy debate on the organisation of knowledge, innovation, and strategy, combining analytical depth with strategic coherence.

KTO advances frontier research that meets top-journal standards while promoting internal alignment, visibility, and collective impact. Acting as a platform for research development and career progression, the centre leverages flagship projects and complementarities among its members to strengthen its international position in the strategic, economic, and organisational analysis of knowledge and innovation.

Research Themes

KTO’s research examines how technological change, knowledge creation, and human capital influence firm strategy, industrial dynamics, and economic performance, integrating perspectives from innovation economics, strategic management, and organisational theory. Its areas include innovation and technological change, entrepreneurship and market formation, strategic human capital and labour markets, organisational learning and adaptation, categorisation, valuation and cognitive dynamics in markets, industrial and regional dynamics, institutions, policy and regulation, and diversity and inclusion in organisations. The centre also hosts the Chaire Prévention et Accès aux Soins (IDEX UCA JEDI), which analyses the organisation and economics of healthcare to improve access and system efficiency, and the Observatoire de la Féminisation en Entreprise, which studies gender dynamics, representation, and equity in organisational contexts.
