Released on October 7, the annual Stanford–Elsevier ranking identifies researchers whose scientific publications have made a significant impact in their respective fields. Based on data from Elsevier’s Scopus database, it draws on several bibliometric indicators, including citation counts, the h-index and authorship contributions.

The ranking comprises two categories: one assessing research impact over an entire academic career and another measuring citations received during 2025.

Four professors recognized for their research contributions

The four SKEMA professors featured in the 2026 edition represent two of the school’s research centers:

  • Margherita Pagani, Professor in Artificial Intelligence for Business and Director of the SKEMA Centre for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI). Her research explores human-centered AI, digital marketing, consumer behavior and the transformation of business models through emerging technologies.
  • Armin Schwienbacher, Professor of Finance and member of Finance & Accounting Insights on Risk and Regulation (FAIRR). His research focuses on entrepreneurial finance, crowdfunding, venture capital and the financing of innovation.
  • Chitu Okoli, Professor of Information Systems and member of the SKEMA Centre for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI). His research examines data science, artificial intelligence, knowledge development and open digital content.
  • Florencio López de Silanes, Professor of Finance and member of Finance & Accounting Insights on Risk and Regulation (FAIRR). His work focuses on corporate governance, investor protection, financial markets and the relationship between institutions and economic development.

Margherita Pagani, Armin Schwienbacher and Chitu Okoli appear in both the career-long and single-year categories. Florencio López de Silanes is featured in the single-year category, based on citations received during 2025.

International recognition across disciplines

The presence of these four professors in the Stanford–Elsevier ranking reflects the international visibility of SKEMA’s research across artificial intelligence, information systems and finance. Through SCAI and FAIRR, SKEMA researchers examine challenges facing businesses and society, from the development and adoption of artificial intelligence to the financing of innovation and corporate governance.
