In Garoua, Cameroon, Elisée Nlemba inaugurates the Garoua Digital Academy
On 27 August, Elisée Nlemba, a student of the Mastère Spécialisé® in Project and Programme Management (MS® MPP) at SKEMA Business School’s Grand Paris campus and president of the HUMANI’SPHERE association, inaugurated the Garoua Digital Academy in northern Cameroon. This free digital training centre, actively supported by SKEMA Business School and the African Institute of Computer Science (IAI Cameroon), is primarily aimed at young girls, in order to bridge the digital divide that particularly affects them and to foster their professional integration.
It is a project he can be proud of. Through his association, Elisée Nlemba, MS® MPP student, played a leading role in launching this free training centre, backed by SKEMA (to the tune of €15,000) and IAI Cameroon. The initiative seeks to reduce the digital divide and promote access to employment, especially for young women. The inauguration brought together representatives of the Lamido of Garoua, the education delegate, local leaders, and the first cohort of beneficiaries.
The centre is already equipped with 17 computers, adapted furniture, and improved facilities. The next step will be the installation of a high-speed internet connection to enhance training sessions. Each year, 135 young women are expected to receive free training and certification from IAI Cameroon. “Beyond equipment, it is a future that we are opening to these young women, who will now be able to take ownership of digital tools and hope to integrate into the workforce, create their own jobs, or secure decent employment,” said Elisée Nlemba.
SKEMA’s involvement in the project
“This partnership illustrates our determination to act beyond the walls of our campuses, by supporting projects that bring impact and hope. Through the Garoua Digital Academy, we are helping to open new horizons for a youth full of potential, often held back by cultural or economic barriers,” said Alice Guilhon, Dean and Executive President of SKEMA Business School, at the signing of the partnership.
