SKEMA confirms its sporting momentum across disciplines as the academic year draws to a close
As the academic year approaches its end, SKEMA’s sports teams are continuing to deliver strong performances across a wide range of disciplines and competition formats. Handball, field hockey, padel, running, e-sport and canoeing: SKEMA athletes have collected podium finishes, with a series of remarkable results.
If this continues, SKEMA’s trophy cabinet may soon prove too small. In the closing weeks of the academic year, the school’s athletes have produced an impressive haul of medals. In women’s handball, SKEMA secured the title of runner-up in the French Business Schools Championship. Facing the country’s leading business schools, the team maintained consistency and collective strength all the way to the final.
In the men’s competition, Lille-based team the SK’orpions claimed third place in the French Business Schools Cup. The result came under unusual circumstances, as the team competed without a trained goalkeeper, adapting its play throughout the tournament.
ESDHEM students stand out in hockey and canoeing
On the hockey field, a team of ESDHEM students also returned with a bronze medal in a highly competitive tournament. In canoeing, Grégoire Fontan, an ESDHEM student, delivered a notable performance at the French N2 Cup. Competing in a single kayak, the first-year law student finished 20th and 24th against a dense field of competitors. In mixed double canoe, he secured two third-place finishes, alongside a fourth and a fifth place in the men’s double canoe category.
Podium finishes at the Jeux Omnisports as well
This strong momentum was also visible during the Jeux Omnisports, where SKEMA returned after a twelve-year absence. For this 13th edition, the school’s delegation achieved results across several disciplines: first and second places in padel, victory for Léa Masquelier in the 10 km race, second place in the OJOlette event, and podium finishes in e-sport and spikeball, a discipline in which players bounce a ball onto a small round net.
Team sports confirmed the trend, with second place in both women’s and men’s handball, along with third place in men’s football and basketball. Three teams also took part in the charity OJOelletes race, a five-kilometre cycling event organised with participants with disabilities.
