School of Geopolitics for Business
By combining management and international relations, SKEMA’s School of Geopolitics for Business aims to equip future leaders with the skills to analyse and interpret the geopolitical challenges of a complex, rapidly changing world.
In a complex world characterised by the resurgence of conflict, we are witnessing an increasing geopolitical dimension to economic flows. In these circumstances, managers are expected to understand the international context in which they operate.
Mission
At the crossroads of history, geography, economics, international relations, strategy, and foresight, geopolitics must now form part of the core curriculum taught at leading business schools. This is why SKEMA Business School launched its School of Geopolitics for Business in 2022.
Under the leadership of Professor Frédéric Munier, the SKEMA School of Geopolitics for Business trains innovative and responsible leaders who, in addition to their managerial skills, are able to understand the world and society, analyse international relations, and examine the natural and societal changes brought about by globalisation, thereby contributing to the convergence of the world. Its mission: to integrate these perspectives into all teaching, to train well-informed students, to build partnerships with prestigious institutions, and to influence public debate.
Partnerships of SKEMA’s School of Geopolitics for Business
SKEMA's School of Geopolitics for Business has forged strong links with several leading institutions in geopolitics and international relations. Academically, the School offers a dual degree with Sorbonne University, specialising in Geoint (Geospatial Intelligence), a programme of excellence at the intersection of satellite imagery, geolocation data fusion and geopolitical analysis. SKEMA Business School and the School of Geopolitics have also established key partnerships with think tanks that produce analysis essential to our students’ education.
Among its key institutional partners is the French Institute of International Relations (Ifri), which is the leading French and European institute for research and debate on international issues. Committed to its European roots, the School of Geopolitics has entered into a partnership with the Jacques Delors Institute, a think tank with a long-standing commitment to issues of governance, integration and the future of the European Union. Finally, the business school works with Asia Centre, whose expertise on the economic and political transformations of contemporary Asia is widely recognised. The school’s ecosystem also extends to other leading organisations such as the IHEDN and the IHEMI, which ground the programme in a resolutely practical and operational approach.
These alliances are not merely theoretical: they directly inform the courses through research-based contributions, practitioner input, and events organised in response to current international affairs. These partnerships help to create a demanding learning environment that is open to the world and directly connected to the geopolitical realities that future managers will face.
Sorbonne University – Geoint Master’s
The geopolitics track of SKEMA's Master in Management (PGE) programme benefits from a prestigious partnership with Sorbonne University, a renowned university.
A unique collaboration between management and applied geopolitics, enabling students to obtain a dual degree awarded by two leading institutions. SKEMA’s Master’s in Management, as well as the Master 2 in ‘Geopolitics – Digital Geographic Information’ (Geoint) from the Faculty of Arts.
This dual focus combines the pragmatism of a Grande École of management with the analytical rigour of a world-leading university, to train decision-makers capable of understanding and anticipating the crises of tomorrow.
French Institute of International Relations (Ifri)
SKEMA was the first business school to sign an agreement with Ifri, one of the world's most influential think tanks. This partnership opens the door to a range of collaborations: inviting SKEMA students to Ifri conferences, incorporating Ifri’s research into geopolitics courses, SKEMA's participation in events organised by Ifri, and sharing research topics on international issues.
Jacques Delors Institute
SKEMA’s School of Geopolitics for Business has taken a significant step forward by entering into a strategic partnership with the Jacques Delors Institute, Europe’s leading think tank, founded in 1996 and a European benchmark for reflection and analysis on European Union issues.
This collaboration enables students to benefit from research-based content, masterclasses, and meetings with experts, whilst developing an in-depth understanding of European political dynamics and their impact on economic and managerial strategies.
Asia Centre
SKEMA School of Geopolitics for Business has also partnered with Asia Centre, a leading Paris-based think tank specialising in Asian affairs.
This partnership offers students a curriculum closely aligned with the geopolitical and economic realities of contemporary Asia. It encompasses training, mentoring and executive education programmes, as well as symposia and public events led by recognised experts. This provides a practical opportunity to develop a strategic understanding of Asia, essential for future managers operating in an international environment.
