MSc Digital Marketing and HiPe Kids, pitching champions

Published on 22 November 2019

HiPe Kids is amongst the companies that MSc Digital Marketing students are working with on their year-long in-company projects. This year, eight students from the MSc Digital Marketing programme are working as junior consultants with HiPe Kids.

HiPe Kids was among the 17 companies competing in the recently conducted Get in The Ring event held in Sophia Antipolis on October 24th. The event is an unorthodox start-up pitching competition which pits company founders against each other in a real-life boxing ring. Each representative is allotted a fixed time limit to pitch innovative solutions. The scintillating atmosphere is all but complete with an MC taking charge of the event. The setting adds a competitive spark, often inspiring founders to raise the bar when delivering passionate speeches. Each team is given roughly two and a half minutes to present their innovative ideas and the final round consists of a Q&A session with the judges and the audience. HiPe Kids, a UK-based firm, marched towards victory largely thanks to the exuberant charisma of their founder; Carmina Catena. HiPe Kids are now lightweight category champions and will represent France in the Get in The Ring’s Global Competition, which invites entrepreneurs from over 100 countries.

HiPe Kids is a digital platform offering face-to-face English video lessons conducted by certified and distinguished professionals. The company aims to instil confidence and independence among non-native speakers through one-on-one video call. All courses optionally allow students to obtain the Cambridge English certification. The platform is easy to use; users first register, then buy lesson credits and finally choose a lesson time slot. HiPe Kids allows users the option to cancel lessons 48 hours in advance. The MSc in Digital Marketing has a hands-on pedagogy: students work in groups on real projects with real companies throughout the entire academic year. As junior consultants, the MSc Digital Marketing students have to analyse, create and manage new solutions on a specific challenge for a company or organisation. This project takes up more than half of their study time. Every year, different projects are selected by the MSc director and then the students choose the one they would like to work on. Every year’s projects have different challenges and approaches, but similar needs.
